While enjoying a beautiful bike ride this last weekend, I came across a funny sign in Sausalito’s Boardwalk. This sign is translated in several languages so tourists on their rented bike can follow traffic rules. However, the translation is slightly off, you wouldn’t say “Marcher votre velo sur le trottoir.” Literally, it reads “walk your bike on sidewalk.” In French, walking a bike doesn’t make sense. Either you walk on your own, ride or get off of a bike.
How would you translate this sign? Official translators pull out your brain power and let me know your suggested translations as comments, so we can inform Sausalito!
Here’s mine: Veuillez Descendre de vélo sur le trottoir!
